Who We Are

Connecting people, nature, and identity through heritage conservation

Our Foundation

BAHO Heritage Organization is a non-profit, community-led organization officially registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).

Established to address growing threats to cultural heritage, indigenous knowledge, marginalized Batwa communities, and natural ecosystems across the Africa Great Lakes Region.

Our Philosophy

We view heritage as a living, dynamic resource that connects people, nature, and identity.

Recognizing heritage as a powerful foundation for fostering climate resilience, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and advancing inclusive development across communities.

Our Belief

“Heritage is not just about the past—it’s a living resource that shapes our present and secures our future.”

We bridge traditional wisdom with modern challenges to create sustainable solutions.

Why Heritage Matters

Traditional wisdom for modern challenges

Climate Solutions

Cultural heritage and indigenous knowledge offer practical, time-tested solutions to climate change adaptation and mitigation.

Traditional agricultural practices, water management systems, and ecological knowledge provide sustainable alternatives to modern challenges.

Biodiversity Guardians

Traditional land-use practices and conservation ethics have sustained ecosystems for generations, preserving biodiversity.

Indigenous communities protect 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity through their stewardship practices.

Community Resilience

Indigenous knowledge systems strengthen socio-economic resilience and community governance in vulnerable regions.

Traditional social structures and decision-making processes create adaptive capacity for environmental and social challenges.
